Mashaba blames mismanagement, corruption for challenges at Transnet

The ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba has blamed mismanagement and corruption for the challenges at Transnet.

He was speaking at the Multi-Party Charter for South Africa media briefing in Durban yesterday.

Eleven opposition parties including the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) have come together under a pre-election agreement in a bid to ensure that the African National Congress (ANC) gets below 50% votes in this year’s elections.

Mashaba says backlogs and incompetency at Transnet should be urgently addressed.

“As you’re aware, the almost collapse of Transnet where containers are [were] stuck at our harbour because of mismanagement, because of corruption [and] because of cadre deployment. So, we’re going to really be briefing South Africa about the economic policies that each party is offering,[policies that we] obviously share and some of them that we don’t share, we’ll obviously find common group post the elections.”
