The Pretoria High Court has been listening to audio recordings of the court proceedings wherein the five accused were appearing before the Senzo Meyiwa case. This is at the request of the defence counsels as they claim that accused number 2 Bongani Ntanzi did not know a legal representative by the name of Mr Mjiyako.

However, the state insists that the so-called Mr Mjiyako did legally represent Ntanzi on several occasions in the past following his arrest in June 2020.

State Prosecutor Advocate George Baloyi can be heard in the recordings during  the 27 November 2020 court proceedings at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court informing the court that Mjiyako is representing Ntanzi and Advocate Zandile Mshololo is appearing for accused 5, Fisokuhle Ntuli.

” Mr Sibiya accused number one is appearing in person, Mr Mjiyako is representing accused number 2 and Mr Ntanzi, accused number 3, Mr Mncube is appearing in person and accused number 4 as well is appearing in person. Advocate Mshololo is appearing on behalf of accused number 5 of which he is coming here for the first time.”
