Ramaphosa concludes visit to Angola, holds talks with Lourenço

President Cyril Ramaphosa has concluded his working visit to Luanda, Angola. The President held talks with his Angolan counterpart João Lourenço.

The two leaders discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries.

South Africa and Angola have strong relations. President Ramaphosa briefed President Lourenço on the formation of the Government of National Unity in South Africa. They also discussed the current political and security challenges in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Angola as the current chair of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) is facilitating the talks between stakeholders in the Great Lakes region to address the conflict in the DRC.

South Africa is part of the SADC military contingent deployed in the Eastern part of the DRC to ensure peace and security in that region.
