Slain EFF councillor Moshe Mphahlele’s funeral underway in Limpopo

The funeral service of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Johannesburg regional leader and councilor Moshe Mphahlele is underway at Baroka Stadium in Lebowakgomo, outside Polokwane in Limpopo.

Mphahlele was shot dead during the removal of dwellers from containers in Alexandra, Johannesburg, on Sunday.

Leaders Floyd Shivambu, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, and Godrich Gardee are amongst the mourners attending the funeral service.

EFF supporters from different regions in Limpopo and Gauteng have started filling up the marquee.

Party president Julius Malema is expected to deliver the party’s tribute to Mphahlele.

Mphlahle was fatally shot when police and private security officers were evicting people occupying containers erected to provide shelter during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He will be buried at the local cemetery later this afternoon.
