One person has died and five others were injured in a collision involving a bakkie and a car on the corner of Umgeni and Quarry roads in Durban last night.

Advanced Life Support Paramedic’s Garith Jamieson, “Paramedics arrived on scene to find chaos. They found that two vehicles had collided in the junction before one vehicle lost control and overturned coming to rest on its roof. Paramedics did a quick triage and found that the one vehicle, a bakkie had five occupants in it and the second vehicle had one occupant only. On assessment it was found that one person from the bakkie, a male believed to be in his 40s had sustained major injuries and there was nothing paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene. Four other occupants had sustained various injuries and they were stabilized on the scene before being transported through to a nearby hospital for the further care that they required.
