The Sharks have beaten Western Province 31-23 in round 8 of the Currie Cup in Cape Town keeping the Durban side’s chances of a semi-final spot alive.
And while 2 of the 10 rounds remain for Western Province, the loss effectively knocked the team out of contention for a last 4 spot.
The Sharks laid the foundation for the victory in the first half, scoring 3 converted tries which allowed them to lead 21-10 at halftime. They added one more try in the second half to get a bonus point victory.
Province scored a try in each half and the Cape Town side’s semi-final aspirations have all but disappeared.
Western Province have been well below par this season and the visitors caught them napping to score the first try.
