The Limpopo government says appointing skilled managers is one of the measures it’s implementing to curb irregular expenditure.

The Auditor-General’s report revealed that the province’s regular expenditure had increased from R15 billion to more than R18 billion in the 2023-2024 financial year.

Provincial government spokesperson Ndavhe Ramakuela says, “The provincial government takes this matter seriously and is committed to transparency, accountability, and efficient use of public resources.”

“Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba and her administration have already initiated a comprehensive review of financial management practices across all provider departments. This includes strengthening of internal controls, enhancing oversight mechanisms, and ensuring strict adherence to the Public Finance Management Act,” adds Ramakuela. – Reporting by Karabo Kgafane
