Funeral of pig farm murder victim underway

The funeral service of one of the two women whose decomposed remains were fed to pigs is underway in Kotishing village in Limpopo.

The incident happened on a farm outside Polokwane.  Forty-five-year-old Maria Makgato will be buried at a local cemetery.

Makgato and a Zimbabwean national, Kudzai Ndlovu, were killed while collecting food at a dumping site on the farm in Onverwacht.

Members of political parties are among the mourners.

ANC Women’s League chairperson and the Capricorn District Municipality’s executive mayor Mamedupi Teffo says, “As the ANC Women’s League in Limpopo, we are concerned and worried about the gruesome murders of women particularly in our province as you might be aware this is not the only murder.”

“We have two murders which have happened, we also have another murder in the Blouberg municipality where a woman was raped and killed. So this one shocked us to the core because not only did the perpetrator murder the two women, he also throwed them in the pigsty.
