The West Coast National Park’s wildflower season is in full swing despite a late start.

The park’s manager Charlene Adams says due to the heavy rain the flowers started blooming late.

She says South Africans will be allowed free entry during National Parks Week from the 9th to the 13th September.

“This year the flowers have been much slower than previous years that we have experienced. So, we could notice that the heavy rains and the overcast weather has really kept our flowers back and things are moving slowly. Our National Parks Week is an annual occurrence within South African National Parks, so during that week we offer free entry to all South African citizens. So, if you visit our parks you must just produce your South African ID document at the gates and then you are granted free access to the National Park.”
