Mahikeng in darkness after sub-station explosion

The entire Mahikeng, North West, was plunged into darkness on Thursday after an explosion at a sub-station, affecting the electricity supply to Mahikeng, Mmabatho, and surrounding villages.

Some areas of Mahikeng saw electricity restored a few hours after the incident, but many parts have remained without power.

Eskom spokesperson Ezekiel Baruti says the estimated restoration time for the remaining customers and villages in Mahikeng is anytime after 8 o’clock this morning, provided there won’t be any further complications or breakdowns.
