The Lions have booked their place in the final of this year’s edition of the Currie Cup.

Both teams scored six tries in a pulsating clash.

But it was the Lions who defeated the Cheetahs 43-34 in the first semi-final at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.

Meanwhile, Sharks rugby coach, John Plumtree, had earlier said that playing the Blue Bulls in their home ground of Loftus Versfeld in the Currie Cup semi-final would be a completely different kettle of fish compared to their match in Durban last weekend.

At the time, the Sharks laid down a marker by beating the Bulls 24-18 in the final round-robin match of the competition in Durban, but Plumtree feels conditions will be completely different in Pretoria.

The Sharks have since beat the Bulls to also advance to the finals.
