Road users in the Eastern Cape have been warned to drive carefully as snowfall that may lead to several road closures is expected.
MEC for Transport spokesperson Makhaya Komisa says a level 6 orange warning has been issued by the weather office, with disruptive snow expected Thursday morning to Friday over Emalahleni, Sakhisizwe, eLundini and Matatiele, which may lead to mountain pass closures in these areas.
“We urge all road users, especially our motorists to be extra careful when driving over these areas, as we expect dangerous driving conditions in the next two days. Our teams will be activated to assist on our roads, working with disaster teams.”
