Home Affairs offices open for matrics on Saturdays until October 12

Home Affairs offices will be open on Saturdays from today until October 12, 2024, for matriculants to apply for and collect their IDs.

Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube says this will ensure that matriculants have access to critical identification services as they prepare for their final exams.

She has urged all matriculants who need IDs as well as their parents and guardians to take full advantage of this extended service.

Education Department spokesperson Terence Khala says, “This remains important as it gives life to the standing protocol that has been signed by the Department of Basic Education and Home aAfairs since 2010.”

“Now through the protocol learners will receive preferential treatment when applying for and collecting their IDs. The Minister did indicate that this is an excellent example of how government departments can work together to prioritize the needs of learners.”
