Fullback, Jordan Hendrikse kicked a monster penalty in extra time to hand his side a 16-14 win over the Lions at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.
All points were scored in the second half of the match.
The Lions, who enjoyed a 14-13 lead going into extra time, just had to hold onto the ball for the final seconds, but somehow lost possession, and the Sharks were awarded a penalty.
Hendrikse’s 60 meter effort was successful and gave the Sharks a 16-14 win to clinch the Currie Cup crown for the first time since 2018.
