Tourism service excellence launched in Parys, Free State

Free State Department of Tourism MEC Toto Makume says the Tourism Service Excellence Small Town Programme launched in Parys will build a service culture in the sector’s value chain.

Makume says the province should be a go to and not a go through area.

He adds that the tourism sector should be a major contributor to the province’s economy.

“We are trying to link tourism with this Heritage Month. The Department of Sports and Tourism, there are those joint activities that we’ve talked about like visiting our own historical sites in our own areas. For instance the war sites and the museum sites where we are going to come up with a cleanup campaign because some of the surroundings were not ok,” says Makume.
