Heritage Day with a twist as climbers summit Magaliesberg Mountains

As scores of South Africans gathered at various venues across the country to celebrate Heritage Day, some took time to engage in wellness activities.

Pretoria North residents spent part of their Heritage Day morning climbing the Magaliesberg Mountain in a 6km hiking expedition.

Known for its magnificence of nature and the turbulent history, the Magaliesberg remains an undying attraction for adventurers hikers.

Beginners and experienced hikers shared their experience while trailing down the deep rich soil and clear endless water streams at Magalies hiking trail on the outskirts of Pretoria.

“The hiking was very good and we enjoyed it. Our muscles are stretched. Everything is good right now,” says one hiker.

Another hiker adds: “It is tiring. I am so exhausted. It is worth it. I think I’ll do it again.”
