95 Libyan nationals from illegal military base to be deported today

The 95 Libyan nationals arrested at a suspected illegal military training base near White River in Mpumalanga last month have arrived at the Kruger International Airport for their deportation.

This after the National Prosecuting Authority withdrew charges including the contravention of Immigration Act against them on Thursday.

The Libyans were then handed over to the Home Affairs Department for deportation.

Their legal representative, Nico du Plessis confirmed the arrival of his clients.

“You can see the trucks with our clients have also arrived and I understand also that the plane has arrived for the safe return to Benghazi. Our clients are very happy and thank you to Home Affairs for assisting them to get back,” he said.
