The Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court has granted Moroadi Cholota bail of R2500 after a lengthy three-day bail application.

Magistrate Estelle De Lange told the court that she did not think Cholota was a flight risk as the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) had argued.

Cholota is the former personal assistant to the then Free State Premier, Ace Magashule.

The 37-year-old has been charged with fraud, corruption and money laundering along with 16 other accused, including Magashule, in the R255 million asbestos removal project case.

Earlier, the court has heard that  Cholota only found out through the media that she was a state witness in the controversial asbestos removal project case.

Cholota is denying all charges levelled against her.

She also stated that the state never consulted her to be a witness when they announced it in public.
