ActionSA says it will work with the African National Congress (ANC) to change the leadership of the Ekurhuleni and Tshwane Metros.

This follows the election of ActionSA’s Nobuhle Mthembu as the new Speaker of the Johannesburg Council.

She replaces Margaret Arnolds who has now been appointed Finance MMC.

ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba says, should they get a mandate, they will unseat Cilliers Brink as the Executive Mayor of Tshwane.

“Ekurhuleni and Tshwane will be next. As ActionSA, we are busy consulting with our structures. Yesterday, I had a very successful meeting with our PEC [Provincial Executive Committee] in Gauteng. Early next week, we’ll have meetings with our REC [Regional Executive Committee] in Tshwane and our caucus.”

“And if we get the mandate, then without any shadow of doubt, we will put in a mayor who is going to provide and focus his service delivery on all the residents of the City of Tshwane,” adds Mashaba.
