This year’s Aircraft Aviation Show in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal drew hundreds of people from in and around Durban.

The show lined up of South Africa’s best aviation pilots. Young and old described the show as a platform for bringing together different racial groups.

Pilots had to use and apply their skills to entertain the spectators.

The organiser of the show, Brendan Horan, says not only is the event a form of entertainment but also inspires the youth to pursue careers as pilots.

“Absolutely, this is not just entertainment, but kind of like sports compassion for young aviators. Yesterday we held an event for about 500 scholars where we introduced them to aviation. So that was very positive where they got to see it and talk to pilots and also talk to the Air Force, which is a huge kind of platform and an initial start for people in aviation.”

Pilots who took part in the Aircraft Aviation Show in Durban are displaying all their skills and tactics to keep revelers entertained, from different formations to aerobatic maneuvers.

Hayden Burmester and Chris Berlyn are among the pilots.

“It’s amazing, you know, and I came here and I was about eight or nine-years-old with my dad. And I have been watching the Virginia Airport show for a long time. It’s very, very special. To young people, I can say if it is your dream, go for it.”

“It’s passion that started as a young kid, and I followed it through, and it started as a young dream. I think the most important thing about the aviation display is that it is interesting to the generation and makes us put in more efforts, and everything is possible.”

Liam Bauer is four-years old, and he was excited to be part of the show.

“My name is Liam, and I like the airplane, and I want to be a pilot one day. And I like the sound of the airplane, and one day I will be a pilot.”
