State witness Mthokozisi Thwala says the alleged intruders used English words when they demanded cellphones and money – but insists they were Zulu/ Sesotho speakers.

Thwala is under cross-examination at the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, underway at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

Five men are on trial for the murder of the Bafana Bafana soccer star, who was shot and killed in 2014, while at Kelly Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus.

Defence lawyer Sipho Ramosepele – who represents accused one and two is the first to cross-examine Thwala about his testimony.

“In what language was that demand for money and cellphones made? The person that came into the house said money and cellphones which is English. But in saying it, he said it in IsiZulu/Sotho. But my inclusion of the Sesotho language … I’m saying that because we are in Gauteng,” explains Thwala.
