Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) president Zingiswa Losi says the African National Congress’s (ANC) alliance partners should ensure that the ANC leads the government of national unity (GNU).
Losi’s comments come amid criticism from the South African Communist Party (SACP) and other sectors of society that the Democratic Alliance is the one driving the GNU.
She was speaking at the Working Class Leadership Programme convened by the Chris Hani Institute in Johannesburg on Friday.
“Whilst we may not have sought a government of national unity and had preferred an ANC minority government as a federation, the reality is we are in a GNU and we must ensure that it is the ANC that leads it.”
