The Africa National Congress (ANC) has warned delegates who have intentions to disturb the second leg of the North West Provincial conference to reconsider their decision.

There are reports that some delegates who went to court to interdict the conference have not shown up at the two-day gathering which ends on Sunday at the Rustenburg Civic Centre.

ANC National Elective Conference (NEC) members deployed to the party’s 9th Provincial Conference say everyone who is accredited and who chooses to stay away from the ANC conference is breaking the party’s constitution.

Although having been accredited to participate in the conference, which started two weeks ago, some North West ANC delegates have decried the fact that some of their friends were barred from attending.

In solidarity, several legible candidates have decided to boycott the conference. However, ANC NEC Member Dakota Legoete says snubbing the party’s event while sent by structures is a form of ill-discipline, insisting that such members will be dealt with according to internal party discipline.

Legoete says, “The group tried to interdict the conference earlier in the week at the High Court in Mahikeng and the matter had since been struck off the roll.”

ANC spokesperson, Pule Mabe says they have been vindicated. “And on whether the unity and renewal project will hold,” said Mabe. He added that they are very worried now that recently the province has become too litigious with factions deeply entrenched.

Mabe further adds, “With the conference ending later today, it seems a dream for a lasting peace and a comradely working together in the North West remains a distant wish with a Constitutional Court challenge now in the offing.”
