The High Court in Thohoyandou, Limpopo has heard that the cartridges that were found at the scene where the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) leader Ronald Mani was gunned down were not from the recovered firearms.

A ballistic expert, Captain Martha Molope, who examined firearms suspected to have been used in the killing of Mani and fellow SAMWU leaders, is testifying in the trial of three Radzuma siblings in the High Court sitting in the Waterval Magistrate’s Court, outside Louis Trichardt.

The accused face more than 40 charges, including seven murders. Captain Molope also testified that she examined the T-shirt that the late Mani had worn and found six bullet holes in front.

“The cartridge case mentioned in 6.1 was not fired by the same firearm as the cartridge case mentioned in 4.5.1 respectively. I examined the T-shirt mentioned in 3.1 and found the following six possible bullet holes on the front. No burns or partial burns could indicate one of the following possibilities that the shots were fired from a distance.”
