The legal representative of Moroadi Cholota, Advocate Loyiso Makapela has told the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein that they brought the urgent application to be able to obtain substantial redress on the matter before the pretrial in September.

Makapela stated that there was no reason for them to delay the matter. The court is hearing Cholota’s urgent application to have her arrest declared unlawful and unconstitutional.

The former personal assistant to the then Free State premier Ace Magashule, argues that the R255-million asbestos corruption and fraud charges against her, emerge from her refusal to comply with the state’s demands for specific testimony on the case.

Cholota was released on bail last week Thursday after the state failed to prove that she was a flight risk. She was released on R 2500 bail.

Now she is asking the court to deem the charges against her invalid and to withdraw them.

The case continues.
