The City of Cape Town has issued a warning for disruptive rain and localised flooding of roads and informal settlements today and tomorrow.

The City says it has received a yellow, Level Four, warning from the South African Weather Services (SAWS). Disaster Risk Management spokesperson Sonica Lategan says damaging winds are expected at sea.

“SAWS has issued a Level Two weather warning for damaging winds for today and Level Four for disruptive rains for tomorrow in the city of Cape Town. We advise the public to please take heed of the warnings and help reduce the potential risk to their properties by clearing drainage systems, raising the floor levels of structures, digging trenches around houses to divert water away and; ensure that the gutters are clear and all big tree branches or any other items that could potentially cause obstructions are cleared.”
