The United Civil Society in Action has called on Trade, Industry and Competition Minister, Parks Tau to immediately dissolve the National Lotteries Commission (NLC).

It says that the NLC  has failed to distribute funds to community-based organisations.

There have been allegations of massive corruption at the commission whose old board and management have been  replaced.

However, there are reports that some of those implicated in corruption are fighting back.

The NLC  is yet to react to the allegations.

The civil society’s chairperson, Tebogo Sithathu says, “We are calling on the Minister of Trade Industry and Competition Honourable Minister Parks Tau to fire the board now and fire the current commissioner.”

“ They have failed the public, they have failed this country, they have also failed poor people of this country. What is happening there is a serious crime scene, they have illegally transferred R300 million to the Treasury which is illegal and against the National Lotteries Act,” Sithathu adds.
