Award-winning film producer Thabang Moleya has described veteran actress Connie Chiume as a selfless and kind leader in the Arts and Entertainment Industry.
South Africans have taken to social media to pay tribute to Chiume who was known for her role in productions including the international film Black Panther as well as local programmes such as Zone 14 and Gomora.
The 72-year-old passed away on Tuesday after being admitted to hospital in Johannesburg for a medical procedure.
Moleya says “UMa Connie led the team from a very sincere, noble place of integrity. When you are doing a show that bit you usually have someone spearheading the energy of the show and that is what mam ‘Connie did for us. She was a mother to us all, she was someone who was caring and loving.
So even though we’ve only worked with her on Gomora, Zone 14 and Soon Comes Night, it was a close relationship and we lost a library. She had so much vigor, so much life and so much purpose.”
