Several political parties object to Ad Hoc Committee report on Constitution 18th Amendment Bill

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), The Democratic Alliance (DA), Freedom Front Plus (FF+), The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) and The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) have objected to the Ad Hoc Committee report on the Constitution 18th Amendment Bill.

The Ad Hoc Committee to Amend Section 25 of the constitution brought the report and the Bill to the National Assembly for final approval. The Bill is currently being debated. It seeks to make provision for land expropriation where compensation may be nil. ANC Chief Whip Pemmy Majodina called for the report to be adopted.

“Thank you very much honourable Deputy Speaker. Honourable Deputy Speaker I hereby move that the report be adapted to the House. The motion is that the report be adopted, are there any objections? Deputy speaker note the objection of the DA. Note the objection of the Freedom Front Plus…I will…The objection of the IFP and the ACDP. Note the objection of the Economic Freedom Fighter as well…. I will. Honourable members we are noting those objections and the motion is agreed to,” says Majodina.
