The coronavirus (COVID-19) test positivity rate has finally declined to 5% – the rate at which the spread of the virus is considered to be under control.
During the peak of the third wave that was fuelled by the Delta variant – the test positivity rate was as high as 30%.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases says 967 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the latest 24-hour reporting cycle.
It says 51 more people have succumbed to COVID-19 related complications.
