Law firm Senago Attorneys says the Principal of the Daveyton Skills School failed to follow educational guidelines when authorising a school camp.

The firm, appointed by the Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane, presented the investigation report findings surrounding the deaths of two learners at the school, Sibusiso Sibiya and Siphamandla Peterson.

The two drowned in the Hennops River in Centurion during a camp said to instill discipline in pupils. The process to suspend the principal is underway.

Briefing both families on the outcome of the findings of the investigative report on Tuesday, the MEC says the Department did not authorise the camp.

“…the school principal will be acted upon, already as I have said earlier, we had requested her to report at the district in the interim while we are doing the investigation. Now that we are done, we are moving straight into a disciplinary process and within that, we have proposed suspension.”
