Former minister in the Presidency Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has made a clarion call to the South African youth.
She says the challenge is for the youth to defend the gains of the liberation struggle and acquire development skills.
Dlamini-Zuma says during their struggle they endured pain and oppression but also experienced liberation.
She was one of five women and former cabinet ministers honoured by the Gauteng Provincial Government on Friday.
Among the honorees were current Chief Justice Mandisa Maya, as well as former ministers Lindiwe Sisulu and Naledi Pandor. They received this honour for their contributions to democracy in the struggle against apartheid at Constitutional Hill.
