An elderly couple has been arrested after they were found in possession of suspected stolen property and possibly counterfeit goods, valued at R1.2 million rand at their home in Durban North.

The pair was arrested following a search and seizure raid at their home.

Police recovered several boxes, each containing branded car parts.

Police spokesperson Carmen Rhynes says a search was also conducted on a vehicle in the property which belongs to the couple, and further stock of car motor spares was found.

“On questioning the couple, they failed to provide a reasonable explanation or documentation to be in possession of the suspected stolen goods.  The couple aged between 55 and 63 were subsequently arrested and recoveries to the value of R1.2 million were made respectively. Further investigation is in progress and additional charges are imminent.”
