African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa says economic transformation remains a key priority for the party. Ramaphosa made the comments in Durban where the party launched its 2024 election manifesto at the Moses Mabhida stadium.

The party says it plans to create two and a half million jobs in the next five years if voted back into government. Ramaphosa says far too many people in South Africa are still unemployed.

“Many people who had been excluded from playing a key role in the economy, including workers, the middle strata, young people, women and people with disabilities are now actively participating.  There are still too many South Africans who are unemployed, too many people who live in poverty and who do not have enough income. Economic transformation therefore remains the foremost task.”
