Education MEC to visit families of learners killed in accident

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane will on Thursday, visit the families of the learners who tragically lost their lives in a fatal accident yesterday morning in the Kokosi-Wedela area, Merafong, west of Johannesburg.

The deceased are learners from Rocklands Primary School and Laerskool Blyvoor in Carletonville.

It is alleged that the minibus was hit from behind by a bakkie, causing it to overturn and subsequently catch alight.

The authorities are currently investigating the circumstances around the incident.

Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona elaborates, “Gauteng [Education] MEC Matome Chiloane will be visiting the families of those children that perished yesterday, in a horrific accident that took place in Carltonville. MEC will be visiting the families in the area that is in Kokosi Fochville.”
