EFF leader Julius Malema says that the leadership of his party remains intact despite the departure of Floyd Shivambu.

The EFF’s Secretary-General Marshall Dlamini will be the party’s new Chief Whip in Parliament while Malema’s office will be responsible for the party’s governance task unit.

Shivambu who was the EFF’s Deputy President has since joined the uMkhonto weSizwe Party where he’s the national organiser.

Malema says there’s no longer a common purpose between him and Shivambu.

“I said to you at the press conference that I wouldn’t have expected that from a brother. And once I say that.. a word for that is betrayal. So, whether I put it in that way or this way, it’s the same. But it’s what’s under the bridge now. Nothing of us depends on his existence. No, no, no. We are doing much better now without him.”

People’s Assembly

Malema says the party’s upcoming conference will not be a bruising contest. The EFF will hold its third People’s Assembly in December when it will elect its top leadership.

“Not where I’m in charge. I’m in charge now. And I’m going to make sure that I defend the unity of this organization and its existence. I do not care of any critique that will come because it’s disappointed from EFF that the emerges is united in Nasrec. EFF is not going to die in Nasrec. We’re going to a conference. We’re going to an account. We’re going to elect leadership. We’re one of the few organizations that do that.”
