Lobby group Equal Education has called for the removal of corruption accused Zizi Kodwa as a member of the Basic Education Portfolio Committee and a Member of Parliament.

Equal Education says it has written to the African National Congress Chief Whip Mdumiseni Ntuli to register its concerns and called for the immediate removal of Kodwa.

The lobby group says the charges that Kodwa faces raise grave concern about his suitability for his role in the National legislature.

The organisation says Kodwa’s nomination is an insult to learners who rely on effective legislative oversight to guarantee the provision of quality education.

Equal Education says the importance of ethical governance and the highest levels of integrity cannot be overstated for a role that demands such commitment, as outlined in Parliament’s own Code of Ethical Conduct.
