Five trucks looted and set alight in KZN

Police say protesters blockaded the N2 at Mfekayi near Mtubatuba on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast last night before looting five trucks and setting them on fire.

Details of the incident are only now coming to light.

KwaZulu-Natal Police Spokesperson, Robert Netshiunda says members of the Public Order Policing unit managed to restore order. He also says the police are investigating.

“The protestors were reportedly complaining about an electricity outage in the area. No arrests have been made so far and police intelligence and other units are on the ground in the area with the aim of identifying those responsible for the crimes committed,” says Netshiunda.
