Free State Community Safety, Roads and Transport MEC Jabu Mbalula has lodged an urgent court application against businessman Freddie Kenny and the Mangaung Metro at the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein.

According to court papers, Mbalula wants to demolish the world-class entertainment structure that the businessman is currently building next to his Lemo Mall in Bloemfontein under Kenny’s construction company, the Kenworth Group.

Mbalula also wants to interdict the businessman’s annual Lemo Fest that’s scheduled for next month.

The festival is set to take place at the mall also known as Lemo Green Park and an interdict by Mbalula seeks to prevent Kenny from hosting anywhere across the Free State where the appropriate permission has not been granted.

The papers further read that the court should provide Kenny 21 days following the grant of the order to demolish any structure on the land.

The urgent matter is expected to sit at the Free State High Court on Friday 20 September.
