Gender-based violence is a term where violence is directed against a person based on his or her gendered identity, it can be physical, sexual, emotional, structured, and economic.

GBV contributes to HIV /AIDS infections because of physical, sexual and emotional abuse. According to 2nd Quarter Crime Stats (July – September 2023), females were victims in 14 401 GBH Assault incidents.
