As US Vice President and Democratic Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris continues to surge in the polls, her campaign and that of Republican rival former President Donald Trump have agreed to debate on September 10th.

ABC News has confirmed the two will face off in a televised debate hosted by the network.

Trump had earlier agreed to debate President Joe Biden on that date, but then backtracked after Biden withdrew from the race.

Harris’ surge in the polls has seen the Trump campaign scrambling to find its footing in a race they were leading when Biden was still in contention.

During an untethered, rambling press conference on Thursday, Trump again changed his position confirming he would debate Harris at least three times this September one on ABC, another on Fox, and then NBC, but Harris has only committed to the ABC debate for now.

This development comes after she named Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running this week, while she surges in the polls after an IPSOS survey found the Democrat ahead 42% to Trump’s 37% echoing other polls that give Harris a growing edge. Her rise has seen the Trump campaign scrambling, resulting in a hastily arranged press conference on Thursday filled with false claims and personal attacks.

Their September 10th debate is expected to draw millions in viewership.
