uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) member John Hlophe has described the litigation lodged by the Democratic Alliance and others as indicative of a hypocritical crusade against him.

This was stated by the lawyers representing Hlophe in court on the second day of the case.

Day two of the case is based on ‘part B’ of the litigation in which the applicants are asking the court to review and set aside the decision the National Assembly had taken in designating Hlophe as part of the Parliamentary representatives joining the Judicial Service Commission.

Senior Counsel representing the MK Party Dali Mpofu had pleaded to the full bench of the Western Cape High Court that the case ought to be thrown out in the dust bin.

He said the matter represents an abuse of the judiciary process in the main.
