The case against alleged Usindiso building arsonist, Sithembiso Lawrence Mdlalose, resumes in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s court on Thursday, 1 February 2024.

The case was postponed last week to allow for the profiling and verification of Mdlalose’s residential address and to set a date for a bail application.

The fire that took place on 31 August 2023, in Marshalltown, Johannesburg, claimed the lives of 76 people.

Mdlalose was formally charged with 76 counts of murder, 86 counts of attempted murder, and one of arson.
