The investigating officer in the corruption case of the former Eskom CEO Matshela Koko and 18 others is expected to take the witness stand in the Middelburg Specialised Commercial Crime Court in Mpumalanga on Thursday.

The investigating officer cannot be named for safety reasons.

Magistrate Stanley Jacobs wanted some matters to be clarified before he could deliver judgment in the application by the accused to have the case withdrawn.

Koko and his co-accused including his wife and two step-daughters have applied for their case to be struck off the roll as the state is not yet ready to take the matter on trial.

The accused are facing fraud, corruption and money laundering charges related to the R2.2 billion of Eskom’s Kusile power station contracts.
