Justice Minister to appear before Parliament this week over VBS

Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Thembi Simelane will appear before the Portfolio Committee of Justice and Constitutional Development on Friday, to give insight on her involvement in getting a loan from the collapsed VBS Mutual Bank.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has also sought urgent clarity from her and asked for a briefing.

Simelane is alleged to have received a half-million rand loan from an intermediary that canvassed for loans from VBS.

This was after National Treasury issued a notice that any dealings with the bank was unlawful.

Simelane was the Mayor of the Polokwane Municipality at the time of getting the loan.
