A South African and two Mozambican nationals have been arrested following the kidnapping of a Pakistani businessman and the murder of another.

The suspects were arrested yesterday at various locations in Gauteng.

The two victims were attacked at their hardware store.

One was killed at the scene and another kidnapped for ransom.

Gauteng police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk says the victim of kidnapping was rescued from an address in Lawley, south of Johannesburg and reunited with his family.

Van Wyk says the South African Police Service (SAPS) organised crime unit led by intelligence continued working on a kidnapping case stemming from an Ennerdale business robbery in which the two business associates were confronted at their hardware store.

“One was killed at the scene and another kidnapped for ransom. Two suspects are in policing holding cells while one is under police guard in hospital. The suspect sustained a gunshot wound after trying to disarm a police officer during his arrest. The three are facing charges of murder, kidnapping and attempted murder.”
