The organisers of the Merebank Fair have promised a variety of entertainment.

The fair, which will run for the next two weekends, is the brainchild of the Merebank Legacy Book Project.

The event will return to the community for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Roshan Ramdheen is one of the co-ordinators of the fair, “The Merebank Fair started off in 1990 at Badulla drive grounds. It was held by the MRA which I co-ordinated that first fair.

For a long period, there was no fair at Badulla drive grounds. There was a fair in 2019 at St Mary’s Primary School and after COVID, that stopped as well. So, we are going back to the original place where the fair was held after 30 years, so all of us are excited to be able to take the place back to its original place.”
