International relations minister, Ronald Lamola will meet with his British counterpart in London on Tuesday. This will be Lamola’s first engagement abroad since he was appointed Minister of International Relations and Cooperation.

Lamola says he will also address some members of the British community to celebrate South Africa’s 30 years of democracy.

“I will also have the opportunity to engage with my counterpart, the newly appointed foreign minister in Britain. Also to engage on global issues, but also to strengthen our own bilateral relations to further strengthen the economic trade between the two countries.”

Meanwhile, Lamola says he is disappointed that the attack on Gaza by the Israeli military is continuing.

Lamola led a South African team that presented South Africa’s case against Israel at the International Court of Justice in the Hague.

His comments come at a time when Israel’s offensive has led to many people being killed in Al-Mawasi, Gaza.

“I am disappointed that when we went in January, a far lower number of the Gaza population was killed, and now, after that period, when we calculate the months, almost more than 10% of the population has been alienated. It is disappointing. Its a set back for world politics, for world peace the UN and also the trust for multilateral bodies.”
