Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe has condemned the killing of two women at a pig farm at Onverwatcht outside Polokwane in Limpopo. Tolashe was amongst supporters calling for the accused, Zacharia Oliver, Rudolph de Wet, and William Musora, to be denied bail.

The three appeared at the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court  today. They are accused of shooting and killing two women and dumping their bodies in a pigsty.

They are facing two counts of premeditated murder, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Third accused, Musora, a Zimbabwean national, is facing an additional charge of contravention of the Immigration Act.

Tolashe has described the incident as inhumane.

“This has never happened. It is unheard of even during those dark days in the country, we never had this. This is inhumane, it was really  uncalled for and to think that the people who have done this don’t show any remorse.”

The bail hearing of the accused:

Meanwhile, African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in Limpopo want a permanent closure of the pig farm. ANCYL leader Percy Nchabeleng says they want the pigs to be culled.

“The farm must be closed because even that farm belongs to our people. They took that farm by force, their forefathers came here in South Africa early in the 80s, they took that farm. Now they killed our people. So we are saying that, that farm must be closed. According to the Animal Act 1960 we are saying those pigs must be taken away.”
