Police say they have intercepted the smuggling of a R900 000 vehicle into Zimbabwe on the R37 road near Lebowakgomo in Limpopo.
A suspect has been arrested for the alleged possession of the vehicle. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Pretoria on Monday.
It is believed that it belongs to a well-known soccer player.
Police Spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says the suspect is expected to appear before the Thabamoopo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
According to reports, police stopped the vehicle along R 37 from the direction of Lebowakgomo and upon searching it, the driver, who is a South African, was unable to produce valid documents.
He was apprehended on the spot for the position of presumed stolen motor vehicle.
The police established that the vehicle, a white Toyota Prado valued at R900 000, was reported stolen.
